PartyPartyParty

Last night was Elvera Lerner's birthday party, attended by a load of Purple Rose regulars. I turned up as my Nightmare Werewolf, with a velvet bow tie on, and danced late into the evening with Kezzy. It was pretty good - Elvera's a classically trained singer, and so she entertained us all with her vocal talents, singing show tunes & the like. JWheels, a comedian who works at the club, did a "roasting" which is kind of an American humour event thingy where they stand up & take the piss out of the subject for ages. I don't get it myself - I've seen a TV show where they did that to the guy who used to play Sulu in Star Trek & I dunno why anyone would agree to be subjected to public humiliation. But anyway - it started getting funny after nearly half an hour, when Kezzy pitched in & started sticking up for Elvera. *That* was worth listening to. TBH I find Kezzy a lot funnier, when she's being humourous, than JWheels, who makes his living being funny. But that's just me I guess :-)

Anyway, it was late, and there'd been a massive crash on the M6 near my house - 5 vehicles involves, 1 of which appeared to have been crushed under a truck & ended up on fire. I don't rate the occupants' chances TBH. But anyway it slowed traffic right down & it took me 2 hours total to get home from work, setting off at around 6pm - so with that plus watching a bit of TV with the RL missus, I was pretty bushed by the time I got online. Plus I had to get up at 6 this morning to run my daughter round to her grandparents'. RL, eh...

So. Apparently no Jazz session tonight. Dunno what's happening there, but hey. Don't get me wrong, I like doing my DJ slot there but I'm more at home DJing more modern styles. I've been getting more into Drum'n'Bass lately. Got a bunch of Aphrodite, Cyantific, Pendulum, Grooverider & the like, & I think I can put together a half-decent D&B set now. If the Rose no longer need me I'll start looking for an alternative to go DJ D&B stylee in. Have to discuss that with Kaya & Eponie of course though.
